    At the Farm

Compost-A-Pak bags are predominantly made of third grade corn.

Corn is ideal as it’s an annually renewable crop, which unlike trees, can be grown and harvested in a single season. The corn is deliberately sourced from international GMO-free regions with high levels of rain, to minimise any irrigation.

When corn is harvested, it is graded for sale. Third grade corn is basically spoilt corn, graded as unsuitable for both human and animal consumption and so, it’s often left by farmers to rot. It’s the perfect base material for our bags.

    In Production

Although the farming practices are very traditional, with over 10 years of experience, we pride ourselves on the use of cutting edge science and technology.

Using purpose built biodegradable resin extruders, a BF Series Resin is extracted from the combination of corn starch, biodegradable ingredients, and some propriety elements. It’s our secret combination of ingredients, which give Compost-A-Pak the strength, durability and shelf life that we are famous for. Our blown film bags are then formed into a range of styles, sizes and thicknesses, mostly in our distinct bright green color, and are printed with soy-based, non-toxic printing inks.

We are really proud that through re-engineering this purpose-built equipment, our liners are made with significantly less electricity consumption, compared to manufacturing on conventional extrusion equipment.

    In Your Hands

Our team use Compost-A-Pak products at home, at work, at the butchers and the bread shop, and so we know first hand the high quality that we personally expect. We deliberately invest to maintain this quality consistently.

Scientifically tested with millions of bags in use in Australia, all Compost-A-Pak products are designed to our unique, strict minimum um standards of thickness. This ensures you can be confident you have the durability you require, with minimum breakages and tears. Importantly, all bags are food safe and are being used by an increasing number of stores as an ideal sustainable solution to replace plastic produce and carry bags.

The range is available in a number of sizes and styles for different uses, with an increasing number of specialist products including Coffee Knock Tubes and Postal Satchels, which many leading organisations are using very successfully to improve their sustainability and as an enabler to improve their engagement with customers.

    Back to the Earth

We are proud to be Australian Certified Compostable, so you can be confident our products will breakdown, just as nature intended, with no microplastics or toxins.

All Compost-A-Pak® products  are certified to the Australian Commercial Composting Standard (AS4736) and the Blown Film Bin Liners, Singlet Bags and Dog Waste Bags are also certified to the Australian Home Composting Standard (AS5810). Whilst this Australian standard is the world’s strictest Composting Certifications, our products do also hold European, North American and other Australasia certificates. According to worldwide standards, compostable products should biodegrade at least 90% within 90 days in a commercial composting facility. During tests, Compost-A-Pak® products were shown to biodegrade 99% in half the time!

Our products are food safe and suitable for worm farms. When composted with food waste, the resulting rich compost adds precious nutrients to the soil, improving water retention priorities. Such composts can help community gardens and new organic crops thrive…

... and so the cycle begins again
