Our popular MURFE was specifically designed to increase recycling in multi-unit dwellings by providing a convenient way to separate, store and transport recyclables. Proven successful, this clever and convenient design has now become a popular option for all types of environments.
The MURFE is available in four options, Landfill (Red), Paper Recycling (Blue), Recycling (Yellow) and Soft Plastics (Orange). Each unit is manufactured in Australian Standard waste colours, and features the waste stream label and symbol, hot stamped on the front.
The flexible MURFE has been designed for convenience, with a compact 24 Litre capacity. It is particularly popular in high density domestic environments, small offices, and classrooms.
The compact design fits under most sinks, or beside a desk or counter, and the drop front makes it easy for recyclables and landfill to be inserted. The durable single handle lifts from the rim to assist with manual handling.
This highly flexible system can be nested when not in use, or stacked to form a 96 litre station, with a relatively small footprint. It is manufactured with a proportion of recycled content, and UV stabilised to resist deterioration from sunlight. Easy to clean, the unit is also dishwasher safe.

The MultiSort Range is a great unit to use in parallel with the MURFE for spaces which require a larger capacity, such as staff rooms or foyer spaces.

This product is made of HDPE and includes a proportion of post-manufacturing recycled content. The unit can be recycled at end of life.
If recycling facilities for this type of product are not available through your waste collection contractor, or in your local area, take advantage of Source Separation Systems’ Circular Economy Program. You can return any of our products to our warehouse in Newcastle, and we will ensure it is recycled.
In this case the plastics are granulated with similar materials and colours, providing a precious resource which can then be used for the manufacture of new high-quality products.
Red is the Australian Standard colour for Landfill, so this bright red unit with a hot stamped label is easily recognisable for Landfill waste.
The worlds precious resources are limited. Sending items to Landfill limits the reuse of these resources, and also creates environmental risks given the toxins, micro-plastics and gases associated with Landfill sites, which can escape into the wider environment. The aim of sustainability programs should be to minimise Landfill streams, and in leading organisations Landfill is eliminated with conscious sustainable ordering practices as well as recycling programs.
